MUR investigator, Colonel Alexander Khlystov, receives by mail an old photograph: it captures Yesenin, who had just been taken out of the loop. According to the rules, the investigator should give the law a legal move.
But Khlystov, having made an exception for himself, decides to take up a private search and plunges into the study of the life of Yesenin and his mysterious death. In the course of the investigation, Khlystov has many versions of the mysterious circumstances of the poet’s death and it seems that he is already close to unraveling. But events take an unexpected turn ...
