A sport is nothing without its heroes. That goes especially so for a new sport--dare we say, esport--like League of Legends. Over the past few years, League’s competitive scene has blossomed from its inauspicious beginnings to achieve a status of global phenomenon. That growth has been fueled in no small part by the pros that compete on the rift. It’s a story worth telling, and we’ll be doing so in a three-part documentary series. EPISODE 1 - 9/8
The first installment in the Road to Worlds documentary tracks the origins of competitive League of Legends, honing in on the stories of Fnatic’s xPeke and YellowStar, as well as TPA’s Bebe. Relive Fnatic’s win at DreamHack in Season 1, and TPA’s unlikley triumph in Season 2 over Korean powerhouse Azubu Frost.
EPISODE 2 - 9/12
In the second episode, we dive into the worlds of GoGoing (OMG), Piglet (SKT T1K), and Hai (Cloud9), and look back at the drama of Season 3. As we uncover the unique personal stories and passion that brought each of these players to the sport, we also get unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to last year’s tournament and the epic moments that made it memorable.
EPISODE 3 - 9/15
Our journey ends in Korea--the home of this year’s World Finals. Episode three takes a look at the elements of Korean culture that make it such a hotbed for the continued growth of esports, and we see it through some of the region’s biggest stars--Faker, Piglet, and Imp.
