1993 year. May 9th celebration. Klim Andreevich Derzhavin, a war veteran, cannot reconcile himself to the moral principles of the younger generation: veterans are not mistaken for heroes; on May 9, they become only a distant reminder of the victory over fascist Germany. The last straw is his grandson Andrei, who, on the most expensive holiday, in the circle of his grandfather's veteran friends, makes a toast: “For great Germany !!!”
After an unsuccessful celebration, Klim Andreevich writes a letter to his grandson in his room and puts a bullet in his heart. After what happened, Andrei finds in his room his grandfather’s diary from the time of the war and, rereading it, he learns the true story of his ancestors ...
