剧情介绍

Music by... Gabriel Yared is a sensational hourlong look at the life, career and work of Oscar-winning French film composer Gabriel Yared. Yared is most famous here for his 'The English Patient' music, though I first fell in love with his lush compositions when I saw 'Camille Claudel' only to spend the next several years trying desperately to track down an imported soundtrack... which I finally found. The nice thing here is the fly-on-the-wall approach and the way that director Rani Khanna is able to insert the viewer into the actual process of a film composer. Shot when Yared was again collaborating with the 'English Patient' director, this time on 'Cold Mountain', this just may be the most honest exploration of the film composer's craft yet available on film (or DVD). --Wade Major, Digigods
Awarded an Oscar for his score on The English Patient, Gabriel Yared has composed music for feature films, such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Sylvia, Betty Blue, and Autumn in New York, as well as documentaries, ballets and cartoons in his eventful career.
This intimate film explores the inspiration behind the versatile composer s passion for music and his quest to learn more about his art. Offering many insights about the man and the artist, we see the different facets of his work as a tireless composer.
Filmmaker Rani Khanna was given exclusive access into the delicate process of the creative and collaborative relationship between Yared and Anthony Minghella on the score of Cold Mountain, which went on to receive an Oscar nomination.
This portrait evokes the extremely demanding principals that guide his art and life and reveals an extraordinary artist, one of the finest composers working in the film industry today.
Extracts from Yared and Minghella s finest collaborations are included as well as scenes of Yared conducting a number of his compositions.
The most intimate presentation of a composer this reviewer has ever seen... the pacing of the film is exquisite... highly recommended
