The ?Berlin School“ has been a cinematic trademark for years now, gaining attention from all around the globe. Directors such as Christian Petzold, Thomas Arslan and Angela Schanelec have been screening their movies at the most prestigious film festivals there are. Both international critiques and lovers of arthouse cinema meet the movies with great enthusiasm. The documentary is going to try to show and analyze the similarities in the different directors’ styles and subjects, including important landmarks in their evolution and reception. In 2016, the birth cradle of the “Berlin School”, the German Film and TV Academy Berlin (DFFB) is going to celebrate it’s 50 years of existence – a most important reason to finally acknowledge this relevant contemporary cinematic style with a documentary.
