In his new documentary Nikita Mikhalkov pays tribute to his father, Sergey Mikhalkov, who was a poet, a playwright and an outstanding public figure. An author of the poems loved by generations of Russian children, the lyrics of 3 national anthems (1943, 1977, 2001), the epitaph at the tomb of the Unknown Solder “Your Named Is Uknown, Your Deed Is Immortal“, is a key person in Russian culture. Despite criticism he is a symbol of the era, now called Soviet, which cannot be deleted from our history.
MOTHER (2003, 60 min.)
The documentary was made to commemorate 100th anniversary of a writer and translator Natalya Konchalovskaya. She grew up in a Russian Orthodox family with strong cultural traditions. Granddaughter of a great Russian painter Vassiliy Surikov, daughter of a notable Russian painter Peter Konchalovsky, it was from ancestors that she inherited her talents, creative attitude to life and the energy of love that marked not only her relations with her children, but with the whole world.
